Video: Early ILM CG Department

Randomly found these of the early CG days at ILM. These videos are what helped me want to get into 3d animation when i was a youngster. It’s so funny to see it now. Those Jurassic Park dinosaurs are still the best looking dinosaurs in Hollywood history in my opinion.

Here’s a nice little shot breakdown from Jurassic Park. The screen capture of the CG SUV drawing itself as wireframe-to-flat-shaded, which I believe was the OLD original Softimage, looks so painful. The youngsters in the industry have no idea how easy they have it now. Alias Power Animator had a “turbo-shaded” view, which took about 5-10 seconds to refresh per frame vs the minutes it took to flat-shade in normal flat-shaded view.
